        我国西部发育了地球独具特征的生态系统及其组合,既是我国生态产品主要提供区和生态安全屏障的主体,还因为生态脆弱是我国生态保护修复的主战场。近年来西部实施了一系列重大生态系统保护修复工程,并取得了显著成效,但其生态系统的稳定性和可持续性仍面临较大问题,区域生态安全面临挑战。文章分析了西部作为我国生态安全屏障的重要地位,阐明了生态系统特征与变化、生态保护与修复的进展与成效;并在此基础上,分析了西部生态系统保护修复面临的问题和挑战,研判生态系统保护修复的发展态势,提出新时期科技支撑西部生态系统保护修复的使命和重点任务,以期为西部生态屏障建设提供科技支撑。
英文摘要
        The western China has developed the Earth’s unique ecosystems, which is not only the main provider of ecosystem products and the important barrier of ecological security in China, but also the key area of ecosystem protection and restoration because of its ecological fragility. In recent years, a series of the major protection and restoration projects of ecosystems have been implemented, and have achieved remarkable progress in western China. Nevertheless, due to its ecosystem instability and unsustainability, ecological security is still facing severe challenges in western China. This study first analyzes the crucial roles of the western region as an ecological security barrier in China, elucidates the characteristics and changes of its ecosystems, and assesses the progress of ecosystem protection and restoration. Then, the challenges and the trends are analyzed and the key tasks are proposed of science and technology development for ecosystem protection and restoration in the new era, which is expected to provide scientific and technological support for the ecological barrier building in the western China.
