The project of "Key Technology Research of IPv6 and Municipal Area Trial Networks", supported by the Knowledge Innovation Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences , was finished recently. This article discusses the need for IPv6 , gives an outline of the project and introduces the research results of the project.
