Protection and Development of the Changjiang River: Achievements, Problems and Countermeasures

        过去50年,长江保护与发展取得了巨大成就,但也面临着流域经济增长方式粗放与布局不合理,流域资源环境瓶颈约束显现以及水资源、水灾害、水污染和水生态等四大水问题的困扰。统筹协调发展与保护的关系,创新流域管理体制与机制,是维护长江人水和谐的关键举措。

        Over the past 50 years, great achievements have been obtained in the protection and development of the Changjiang River. However there exist some problems, including extensive economic growth and irrational industry allocation, the clear appearing of the bottle neck restraint of the resource environments of the Changjiang River basin, as well as the four water problems, including water resources management, flood disasters, water pollution and ecosystem degradation. Making overall coordination of the relationship between development and protection and innovating the river basin management system and mechanism are key measures to maintain the harmony between the people and the water in the Changjiang River valley.
