Configuring Regional Development in China and Its Dynamics: Review of "Regional Development Report of China

        快速发展的经济和变革的社会需要从集成、系统角度研究各种逻辑制衡关系及其演变规律并科学审视其结果和趋势。中国区域发展研究项目以综合的视角动态透视了我国区域经济的发展过程与机理,促进了学科间的集成融合,发挥了科学思想库的作用。

        It has been one of the major tasks of the Chinese government to coordinate regional economic development via various policies and measures. In order to assess the spatial results of regional development the research team of "China Regional Development Issues" has published four volumes of "Regional Development Report of China"(Report, hereafter). The Report offers continuous and objective analysis of contemporary Chinese policies on regional social and economic development and the status of development so resulted at both national and regional levels and thereafter provides reasonable policy evaluations and suggestions. It aims to satisfy the demand of national and regional policy-makers and the social understanding. The Report takes an integrated approach, which not only synthesizes the analytical tools of the sub-disciplines within geography but also absorbs useful knowledge and tools of other disciplines, such as ecology, environmental sciences, and social sciences.
